Tors

Rocky outcrops known as schist tors are widespread in many parts of inland Otago. They are the more resistant parts of the schist that have not weathered as quickly as the surrounding rocks. With cracks, crevices and sun-warmed surfaces, they offer ideal habitats for reptiles.
