Mere pounamu (greenstone weapon)

This mere pounamu is called Horokiwi and is a taonga (treasure) of Te Āti Awa of Wellington. One of its owners was the 19th-century chief Te Rīrā Pōrutu, who lived at Pipitea in Thorndon, Wellington. It is now on long-term loan to Te Papa, the national museum.
