Rosina Buckman

Rosina Buckman (kneeling) plays the title role in an English production of Verdi's opera Aida, around the time of the First World War. With her is Edna Thornton playing the role of Amneris. By 1914 Buckman was considered to be one of the best sopranos in England. Listen to a 1917 recording of her singing 'Un bel di' ('One fine day') from Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly.
