Click on the shipwreck icons or the ships’ names to see an image of the wreck site or the castaways’ huts, and read information about six of the seven groups of castaways who spent time on the Auckland Islands between 1864 and 1908. The seventh group were from the Compadre, which caught fire on 19 March 1891 and was steered ashore at the north end of Auckland Island. Sixteen of the 17 men were rescued three months later.
