Click on the shipwreck icons or the ships’ names, to see an image of the wreck site or the castaways’ huts for six of the seven groups of castaways who spent time on the Auckland Islands between 1864 and 1908. The seventh group were from the Compadre, which caught fire on 19 March 1891 and was steered ashore at the north end of Auckland Island. 16 of the 17 men were rescued three months later.
