Story: Large companies

Chase Corporation

Chase Corporation

The April 1985 cover of Metro magazine featured Colin Reynolds and Seph Glew of the Chase Corporation as 'the darlings of Queen Street'. Fittingly, the backdrop is a mirror glass building – the company built a number of skyscrapers. Corporate raider Chase Corporation was one of the largest companies listed on the stock exchange in the mid-1980s. They were crippled by debt following the 1987 share market crash and collapsed in 1989, creating the biggest loss in New Zealand corporate history.
