New Zealand goes it alone

1901 was an important year in New Zealand’s history. From 1860 onwards there had been talk of the Australian colonies becoming one country. Before and after federation, New Zealand’s relationship with its larger neighbour was lampooned in cartoons such as this one in Melbourne Punch.
