Story: Introduced animal pests

New Zealand game

New Zealand game

This poster from around 1935 was used by the department responsible for tourism to promote deer stalking. Deer were introduced to provide hunters with sport. Hunters view them as a valuable species, but conservationists see them as pests because they eat native plants. Whether or not an animal is a pest depends on your point of view.
