Wellington Phoenix player Ava Pritchard goes on the attack during the team’s first match in the semi-professional A-League Women, against Western Sydney Wanderers, in December 2021. This ‘home’ fixture was played at Wollongong, south of Sydney, where the squad was based throughout the 2021/22 season because of trans-Tasman travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their debut game ended in a scoreless draw.
