Sharon Alston's harrowing 1976 cartoon illustrates the trauma women experienced both from rape and the court proceedings in rape cases. The image was published in the feminist magazine Broadsheet. The 1970s saw the emergence of women cartoonists, while publications such as Broadsheetprovided a forum for feminist perspectives to be aired.
