There were two important group settlements in North Auckland during the 1850s and 1860s. The first was that of the Scots Highlanders who came to Waipū with Norman McLeod from 1853. The second was established by more than 1,000 nonconformist Christians who came to Albertland, on the Kaipara Harbour, between 1862 and 1865. This photo shows early Albertland settlers in front of their post office.
