Story: Marlborough places

Outward Bound

Video file

The New Zealand Outward Bound Trust, a member of Outward Bound International, has operated from Anakiwa in the Marlborough Sounds since 1962. The trust promotes self-reliance, particularly among young people, through vigorous residential outdoor education courses. In this video clip, made shortly after the endeavour got under way, Outward Bound students sail the waters of the Grove Arm of Queen Charlotte Sound, just offshore from the Outward Bound buildings at Anakiwa.
