New Zealander Noel Cook is credited with drawing the world's first science-fiction comic. His strip Peter and all the roving folk was published in the Australian Sunday Times in 1924. The protagonist, Peter, was a young boy who went on great adventures throughout space, visiting civilisations on other planets. In this excerpt from a 1925 strip, Peter is in Monopolis, the biggest city on the planet Jupiter, showing off his gravity boots and invisibility belt to the king.
