Entering Pretoria

British and colonial troops are shown here entering Pretoria, the capital of Transvaal, on 5 June 1900, during the South African War between the British and the Boers. The troops on parade include the New Zealand contingent. The key below the picture identifies the troops (number 14 is the New Zealand contingent), significant groups and individuals, and important buildings.
