Story: Labour Party

1938 Labour election campaign pamphlet

In the 1938 general election Labour was opposed for the first time by the National Party, which had been formed two years earlier. This Labour Party pamphlet lists some of the welfare reforms introduced by Labour in its first term of office, and compares them with National's policies. Labour won this election with the largest share of the vote ever seen in a New Zealand general election.
