Story: Te tango whenua – Māori land alienation

Confiscated land areas

This map of the North Island is from the late 1860s. The boundaries, which have been added later, show the main areas of land confiscated by the Crown after the New Zealand wars of that decade. Smaller parcels of land outside these boundaries were also confiscated.

Te Ara shows a series of 4 maps dated from 1860 to 1939 but nothing to show alienations since 1939. Are there maps available which show further losses since 1939?
