Story: Waikato tribes

Site of the battle of Ōrākau (1st of 2)

The last battle of the Waikato campaign took place from 31 March to 2 April 1864 at Ōrākau, near Kihikihi. This map shows the area surrounding the fortification built by the Māori defenders.
