After a lifetime of academic and civic activity, Kenneth Cumberland became a household name in later life with the Landmarks television series (1981). The 10 hour-long episodes surveyed the cultural history of New Zealand’s landscapes, and the opportunities and problems arising from their transformation. In this photograph he is working on the series with editor Bob Richardson.
