Matariki Festival 2016 highlights

Auckland Council organises an annual Matariki festival in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). They partner with a different mana whenua each year to host a series of events celebrating Matariki and te ao Māori. The 2016 festival was held in partnership with Ngāti Pāoa and included a dawn karakia, musical and theatre performances, kite flying, a kapa haka competition, and street kai.
