Dick Tayler at 1974 Commonwealth Games

In probably the most famous moment of the 1974 Commonwealth Games, the New Zealand 10,000-metres runner Dick Tayler electrified the stadium with his victory over David Black, the English athlete, on the opening day of competition. The race was covered on full-colour television, although relatively few people had colour sets at the time. This clip shows the last lap of the race, which ended with Tayler's obvious joy after he crossed the finishing line.
