Independence day for Samoa, 1962

New Zealand's National Film Unit was in Samoa on independence day in 1962 to film the ceremony. In this excerpt, New Zealand Prime Minister Keith Holyoake and his Samoan counterpart Fiame Mata’afa Faumuina Mulinu’u lower the New Zealand and Samoan flags. The Western Samoan flag is then raised by join heads of state Malietoa Tanumafili II and Tupua Tamasese Mea’ole.
