Story: Ngā pakanga ki tāwāhi – Māori and overseas wars

The investiture of Ngārimu's Victoria Cross, 6 October 1943

This ceremony at Ruatōria on 6 October 1943 marked the posthumous award of the Victoria Cross to Second Lieutenant Te Moananui-a-Kiwa Ngārimu. The National Film Unit's film of the event was later shown to Māori Battalion soldiers during the Italian campaign.
