Introduction of boards of trustees in schools

The school board of trustees system was introduced in May 1988. In this television news clip explains the new system and shows Brian Picot, leader of a task force that developed the board of trustees system, and prime minister David Lange discussing it. Other members of the task force – Peter Ramsay, Margaret Rosmergy, Whetu Wereta and Colin Wise – are also shown. The board of trustees system remained in place in the 2010s.
