Story: Veterans’ assistance

Veterans of Japanese POW camps

New Zealand veterans held in Japanese prisoner-of-war (POW) camps in the Second World War had to wait many years for government compensation. By the time compensation was agreed to, a large number of eligible veterans had died. This clip from a 2002 television news item shows men who received the compensation, and one of those who did not – Jim MacIntosh, represented by his widow Joan.
