Story: Families: a history

No family is perfect – No. 2

Video file

Movies are often a way in which the dynamics of family life, including family conflicts, are represented. No. 2, film-maker Toa Fraser's first feature film, focuses on relationships within an immigrant Fijian family in Auckland. Nanna Maria, leader of her extended family, starts organising a traditional feast at which she will name her successor, but things do not turn out quite as she expected. No. 2 received the audience award at the Sundance Festival in 2006.
