This finned octopus (Opisthoteuthis species) was collected from deep ocean waters near Lord Howe Island. Unlike other octopus, this one has a pair of fins (top of photo), which it flaps as it glides through the water. Its arms are webbed – when outstretched, a finned octopus resembles an umbrella.
