A rare species of native frog that lives in Northland is the dark brown Hochstetter’s frog. It grows up to 48 millimetres long, has partially webbed feet, and has more warts than other native frogs.

Just to say only yesterday I came across our rare Northland frog in the waitakere ranges, inside the now unused tram tunnels. I picked one up
