Pygmy whale calf

A Massey University researcher, Padraig Duignan (left), and a Department of Conservation ranger, Malcolm Smith, examine a pygmy whale calf, which was stranded at Māhia in northern Hawke’s Bay. Strandings are reasonably common there, and Padraig Duignan was working with others to investigate their cause.
