After the military coup in 1973, the Guerrero family was forced to flee their native Chile. In 1977, having spent three years in a refugee camp in Argentina, the family arrived in New Zealand. More than 25 years later, Cristina and Oscar, now New Zealand citizens, are still mainstays of the Chilean community in Christchurch. Their children, like other young New Zealanders, have roamed the world.
