Sandy beach erosion

Although there are proverbs about not building your house on the sand, coastal residences are in demand. This house sits behind dunes on the Kāpiti Coast. New Zealanders like to live where they have views of the sea and can walk along the beach. But the lifestyle can come at a price, as coastlines change over time. Parts are swept away and deposited elsewhere in a natural process that can be unnerving for those who own coastal property.
