Whanganui a Hei Marine Reserve (2nd of 3)

Whanganui a Hei Marine Reserve

This 840-hectare marine reserve at Cathedral Cove in the Coromandel was established in 1992. Since then monitoring of spiny lobster populations has shown that the reserve supports higher numbers of this species than adjacent areas. This is a pattern repeated in other reserves, proving their effectiveness.
