Peter Lynn (b. 1946) is pictured with two of his creations – the Stingray and the Octopus. In 1973, he switched careers from engineer to kite maker and established a kite factory in Ashburton. Within a decade he was exporting his kites around the world. The success of his business allowed him to spend time researching and developing the concept of kite traction in the form of sand buggies, kite-sailing and kite-surfing equipment. His pioneering designs are now recognised and used around the world.
