Biography: McKenzie, Mina Louise

Collecting the Manawatū

Mina McKenzie stands in a museum exhibit portraying the interior of a colonial house, with a fireplace, spinning wheel and other furniture. She pretends to ladle food from a pot for the camera.

As the first director of Manawatū Museum, Mina McKenzie oversaw the collection and display of artefacts from across the Manawatū region. In this 1975 photograph she poses among relics from the nineteenth-century settler world.
