Ranginui Walker, academic

From 1970 until 1985, Ranginui Walker taught Māori Studies in the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Auckland. He became a professor in the university’s newly created Māori Studies Department in 1986. These roles gave him a platform both to educate students about te ao Māori and to contribute to public debate on issues of importance to Māori.
