Alistair Campbell and Kāpiti

Alistair Te Ariki Campbell looked out at Kāpiti Island from his Pukerua Bay home; the island inspired a number of his poems, notably his sequence on Te Rauparaha. The island forms a brooding backdrop to this portrait of Campbell by photographer Robert Cross.
