
Dr Tina Makereti is an award-winning writer of fiction and non-fiction whose work has appeared in a range of literary journals, magazines and anthologies.
Her short story collection Once upon a time in Aotearoa (2011), and debut novel Where the Rekohu bone sings (2014) both won the Ngā Kupu Ora Māori Book Awards Fiction Prize. She has also received the Commonwealth Short Story Award for the Pacific region in 2016 and the Royal Society of New Zealand Manhire Prize for Creative Science Writing (non-fiction). In 2012 she was Writer in Residence at the Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt, Germany.
