Fanny Rose Howie with her sisters

Fanny Rose Howie, née Porter (right), and her three sisters – from left, Belle, Minnie and Ada – received their musical education at home. From these beginnings Fanny went on to become a world-class contralto under the stage name Te Rangi Pai.
