Ensembles: the New Zealand String Quartet

The New Zealand String Quartet – (from left) first violinist Helene Pohl, second violinist Douglas Beilman, violist Gillian Ansell and cellist Rolf Gjelsten – have a busy schedule of performances throughout New Zealand and overseas. Here they play at Hūria marae, Tauranga, at the 150th anniversary commemoration of the battle of Gate Pā (a major battle of the New Zealand wars) in 2014. This was their first experience of playing on a marae.
