The artistic profile of ceramics and glass was boosted by the exhibition Treasures of the Underworld at the Seville Expo '92 in Spain. It included 48 works by artists and craftspeople including Len Castle, Barry Brickell, Richard Parker, Ann Verdcourt and Ann Robinson. The theme was the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's first voyage to America and the artists examined ideas of exploration and discovery. The exhibition was very successful and it later toured throughout the Netherlands. All the works are in the permanent collection of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
