This informal gathering of Wellington writers took place in Pat Lawlor’s study, December 1936. The group was gathered to compile a murder mystery, Murder by eleven, to which they had all contributed sections. Present were (standing, left to right) Eric Bradwell, James Wilson Hogg, O. N. Gillespie, C. Stuart Perry, Victor Lloyd, Alan Mulgan and Leo Fanning, and (seated) C. A. L. Treadwell, Pat Lawlor, G. G. Stewart and Richmond Phillip. At the time Lawlor, Mulgan and Gillespie were also important literary reviewers.
