The 1920s and 1930s saw a revival of the Georgian style. Bishopscourt in Christchurch was designed by local architect Cecil Wood and built in 1926, as the residence of the city's Anglican bishop. This photograph, taken soon after its completion, shows the symmetrical front elevation, featuring a hipped roof, regular dormer windows, French doors and two flanking porticos.
