Story: Public, commercial and church architecture

Auckland Art Gallery

Auckland Art Gallery

This view of the entrance to Auckland's Art Gallery highlights the juxtaposition of the French-renaissance-style old wing (1888) and the modern new wing (2011). The new building was a joint design by the Australian firm Francis-Jones Moreham Thorp (FJMT) and local firm Archimedia. In 2013 the complex won World Building of the Year at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore.
