From the 1940s the annual Cambridge summer music school fostered many composers. Several participants who later became successful composers appear in this group portrait from the January 1947 school, including (back row, left and second from left) Ronald Tremain and Edwin Carr, and (front row, left and second from left) Larry Pruden and Douglas Lilburn. Dorothea Franchi is seated at front right.
