Giving evidence at a Waitangi Tribunal hearing

Giving evidence at a Waitangi Tribunal hearing

Historian Barry Rigby (standing behind podium, left) gives evidence at stage 2 Waitangi Tribunal hearings at Te Raki o Papariki (Northland) in 2013. Members of the tribunal, which also includes senior historians, listen intently in the foreground. Presenting evidence at hearings is one of the responsibilities of historians employed by the tribunal. They are also required to do extensive historical research and writing, and liaise with claimant groups.
