Story: Māori composers – ngā kaitito waiata

Te Rangitopeora

Te Rangitopeora

The often-married Ngāti Toarangatira kuia Te Rangitopeora is seen here. Of her several marriages and numerous affairs, she herself wrote:

A notorious one, indeed, am I
Because of my heart's desires,
And so utterly consumed with love.

Te Rangitopeora wrote many waiata expressing her love for various men, including 'A song for Riripo'.
