Tia Barrett with Uenuku

Tia Barrett with Uenuku

Tia Barrett, of Ngāti Maniapoto, touches Uenuku, a carved taonga (treasure) and tupuna (ancestor) of the Tainui tribes. As the Te Māori exhibition travelled around the country large numbers of Māori attended the exhibition, many of them feeling strong connections with taonga they regarded as their ancestors.
