Janet Davidson, around 1962

Archaeologist Janet Davidson poses with a breadfruit pounder found in a storage pit on a dig in Opunohu Valley, on Mo'orea in the Society Islands, in the summer of 1961–62. She went on to work as an archaeologist for the Auckland War Memorial Museum from 1966 to 1979. Davidson was ethnologist at the National Museum in Wellington from 1991 to 1996, then a senior curator at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa from 1996 to 2002.
