Unveiling of Tasman sculpture, 1992

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Boyd Klap (president of the New Zealand Netherlands Foundation) and the sculptor, Margriet Windhausen, look at a new Tasman memorial sculpture at Frank Kitts Park, Wellington, on 18 March 1992. The sculpture was of Dutch explorer Abel Tasman's two ships, the Heemskerck and Zeehaen, and marked the 350th anniversary of Tasman's visit to New Zealand. The sculpture was exposed to vandalism in the park and was eventually moved to Parliament Buildings.
