Bill Manhire

Shown here in 1986, Victoria University academic Bill Manhire was to become a highly influential poet and critic of the 1990s and 2000s. In his criticism he broke with older romantic and nationalistic views of New Zealand poetry, instead advocating a plurality of voices.
