In 1976 Christchurch's Court Theatre moved into the Arts Centre, formerly the University of Canterbury buildings. It was a great example of adaptive re-use of a heritage building. When the Arts Centre complex was damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, the Court Theatre relocated to a suburban warehouse in Addington.
