Dorita Hannah design, 1995

Hone Kouka's play Nga tangata toa – the warrior people is set in a small East Coast village in the 1920s. For its 1995 production at Auckland's Watershed Theatre, set designer Dorita Hannah worked with the lighting designer, Helen Todd, to create a roof of burned timber slats through which light was cast in woven shadows.
